Our Mission

Our business has one very simple cause: To help fishermen everywhere enjoy their time on the water, and to help them maximize their success by offering absolutely the best performing lures and at a great value. Every single lure we sell is our own proven design.  Some are patented.  All have caught a whole lot of fish and many trophy class bass, pike, striper, musky, walleye as well.  We are much more about enjoying life on the water than making money selling "commercial crap" lures that anyone can buy by the gross and put their company name on them.

We will also be vocal on the need for all of us that treasure the outdoors to make every effort to protect it on our watch.  Write letters.  Vote for those that dare to suggest safeguarding our all too-precious air, water and other natural resources.  And, we will evangelize this need for protection beyond our own circle of friends and family.  Our God-given planet is to enjoy responsibly.

Meat and Potatoes Tackle Company™ provides fishing lures, equipment and clothing to the serious fisherman. Many of our lures are designed for big fish. Big fish are looking for a meal, not a snack. Thus the name of the company. We will provide the best quality at the best value. And our customers will be more successful!

About our Founder

J.R. Ince is the founder of Meat and Potatoes Tackle Company™. He has fished up to 20 tournaments per year for well over 25 years.

Analyzing the successes and/or failures of each event led to many hours bent over the kitchen table designing and constructing the lures that would enable him to have an advantage during the next event. The results of this labor comprise the Meat and Potatoes product line-up.

J. R. and fishing buddy Rob Ricci developed the Meat and Spud™ Spinnerbait back in 1972.  Together, they have since won or placed high in many tournaments around the country using the Meat and Spud™.  Using it, they have also caught and released more than 15 bass over 8 pounds in Illinois alone out of public lakes; 2 over 9 pounds!  Until now, this lure has been their little secret.
